Habitat
Campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. This habitat: abandoned cultivated field behind main house of fazenda, with dense growth of grasses and herbs 3-4 dm. tall. Originally cerrado vegetation. Poor soil, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay.

Many stems from taproot, these decumbent & rooting at base. Fls. rose violet, filaments white. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
