Description
Pileus 3 cm broad, convex, dry, tomentose, orange red to capsicum red to English red (8A-E8), with inrolled sterile margin. Flesh white changing to cream (4A3), with mild odor and taste. Tubes immature, yellowish white (4A2) or paler with pores likewise, staining light yellowish brown when bruised. Stipe 5 cm long, 1 cm broad at apex, tapering toward base, with obscure coarse reticulum at apex (lens), heavily pruinose, concolorous with pileus, or sometimes paler near a pale salmon (6A-B5-4), white at base developing pale brown stains from handling. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
