Habitat
Steep slopes of forest - southern ecuadorean scrub ecotone; area bathed by upwelling clouds, otherwise "dry". Locally common.

Description
Terrestrial, but lianoid and rooting along stem. Leaves very succulent. Corolla dark red, spreading widely at throat; stamens not exposed. Calyx dark green. Immature berry subspherical. Locally common. [Pickled].
