Location
French Guiana. Saut Athanase tourist camp on the Approuague River, ca. 25 km SW of Regina. At margins of camp and on trail to Cascade.

Habitat
On trail to La Cascade at first Euterpe Swamp, less than 300 m from start of trail. Six trees found in 200 m radius. Pneumatophores abundant around each tree. Most trees at edge of wet area.

Description
Tree, 30 m x 60 cm. Trunk cylindric to ground. Bark not fissured, the slash reddish. Just past peak flowering. Calyx yellowish-white, petals white, hood white at apex, pink at base and pink between staminodes and staminal ring, filaments white, anthers white with slight hint of yellow at apices; pedicel and hypanthium reddish. Flowers aromatic, at first sniff spicy then smelling like watermelon fide Lobova. Flowers 3 cm in widest dimension. Very young fruits reddish, with white spots. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
