Brazil. Santa Catarina. Along road to Morro da Igreja, 8.9 km from the main road between Urubici and Tuberao, Serra Geral.

Habitat
In shrubby campo with a few Araucarias, lots of Baccharis, Blechnum pennamarina and shrubs, bamboo along a stream.

Description
Culms erect, to 2.5-3 cm in diameter, 3-4 m tall. Some culms flowering, fruiting, and dying, but nearby are some new shoots and vegetative culms. Branching appears to be extravaginal; subsidiary branches numerous, of two sizes, more or less horizontal or somewhat ascending. Culm leaves caducous. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
