Elias d.d.: October 1987 Melastomataceae BOTANICAL .Garde**/ NEW.VORK BQTANiCAl GARDEN 04965151........ GABON, OGOOUE-IVINDO, Babiel-Nord ridge, 4 km from camp BClinga. Secondary vegetation along road overgrown with herbs; shaded by shrubs, small and medium sized trees typical of secondary vegetation, lianas and other climbing and creeping plants also present. Near the road a primary forest on steep slopes. Sunny, grassy spots where edaphic factors inhibit a normal vegetation succession. In half shade, on wet rocky soil. 1°0T N, 13°10' E Alt: 750 - 900m Herbaceous plant, to 15 cm high. Leaves a little succulent, green, with reddish edges. Corolla pink above, white with pink edge beneath. Perianth bracts with orange tip. Filaments greenish yellow, anthers yellow, pistil yellow. Flower stalk dark red. Calyx light green. 04965151
