South Africa. Northern Cape. PortNolloth, Along N7 highway, about 45 km
south of Port Nolloth on Steinkopf road, just downhill from Lekkersing at
Eksteensfontein sign: 29° 18.396' S: 17° 3.231' E
Along roadside on gentle slope of hill, in foil sun. In well-drained soil of granite
sand Succulent Karoo.
Perennial succulent dwarf shrub, 20-70 on high. Leaves opposite, glaucous, of
two distinct types: the first small, thick, flattened and keeled, 3-5 pairs forming
tightly packed rosettes, the second type cylindrical, 10-25 mm long. Fruit a
small 5-locular capsule, 5 mm in diam. Native and abundant.
