Negro: Neblina Massif, Camp II, 2.8 km. N.E.
of Pioo Phelps (= Neblina), 0° 49» 40" N,
65° 59* W. On plateau. Open area of marshy
ground covered with grasses, ferns, pitcher
plant« orchids, mosses and low scattered
shrubs to 1.5 m. tall. Area surrounded by
thickets and dwarf forest including palms.
Very variable temperatures. Very wet
conditions from h,i#i rainfall and frequent
mists. Elev. 2085-2100 m.
Small woody plant with creeping stems sending
up erect stems to 0.45 m. tall. Flowers
white.
