  • Description

    Climbing, rather large trees; stem subterete, 2 inches thick, bendable, branched at the top only; branches numerously rebranched and forming interlaced masses, grayish white, the subflexlble twigs ascendingly curved; wood soft, with large pores, the outer one half dingy or yellowish white, the balance dull incarnatus, odorless and tasteless; bark reddish beneath the dull ardiseus or blackish smoothish epidermis, the whitish inner surface contains a flow of latex; leaves horizontal or descending, chartaceous, shiny deep green on the upper shallowly folded surface, a much lighter green beneath, the stout veins beneath yellowish, the petiole testaceous, tips strongly recurred; figs solitary or in pairs, in the leaf axils or in their scars, upon greenish recurved peduncles, ruber, the syconium yellow, so also the flowers with only a tinge of red, subglobose or globose and with ends somewhat flattened, 3/8 inch in diameter.
