above third escarpment, between edge of escarpment and
subsummit camp (5.38469;-59.97583; 1551 m).
5° 22' 45"N, 59° 58' 29" W Elev. 1508 m.
Sprawling shrub to 1.5 m, growing at edge of escarpment.
Inflorescence spicate with flowers subtended by nectariferous
bracts. Bracts brigth red tumign deep burgundy with a age.
Frequented by several spp of hummingbirds.
