  • Georeferencing Method

Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the approximate geographic center of Quistococha in Maynas Province, Loreto, Peru. Used Google Maps - Earth View to locate Quistococha. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of the city. The spatial extent of Quistococha as provided by Google Maps appears to be too small; instead, treated this locality as an undefined area to ensure that uncertainty radius will encompass the entire area considered to be Quistococha. Used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to find the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the nearest named city, Santo Tomas (2970 m), then halving this distance. Input coordinates, coordinate source (locality description), datum (WGS84), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), extent of named place (1485.0 m), measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find uncertainty radius.
