U Province, Awak village, in northern Pohnpei. In the garden of Mark Kostka. Tree ~10-15m. Fruit surface light green, bumpy, with polygons slightly protruding but flat. Fruit flesh creamy white, turning orangish upon exposure to air. Tiny aborted seeds are present, flowers are somewhat loosely packd. Spent male catkin, brown. White latex throughout. Loca name Mei Toal, a rough (meinsahrek) variety. Toal means black and this fruit should be harvested before the skin turns black or else it will be too sour. N.C. Zerega 171 21 Aug 2000 I T.J.
