Florida: Coconut Grove, USDA Plant Introduction Garden.
Cultivated; PI 139270, from Surinam. Culms of young plant
2.5 m tall and 2.5 cm in diameter, thick-walled, nodes
double and felted more or less visibly. Internodes cylin-
drical, not sulcate, the lower ones covered with a brown
to fawn-colored spreading tomentum. Branches as in
Sinocalamus and Gigantochloa.
