along the east shore of Catfish Lake, along Catfish Lake Road (FS #158), ca.
1/2 mile north of intersection with Catfish Lake Road (#1100/1105), Catfish
Lake South Wilderness, Croatan National Forest. - elev. 40 ft. - UTM 18
30841 IE 3867998N - Lat. 34° 56' 11"N, Long. 77° 05' 52"W -Assoc, spp.:
Bacidia schweinitzii, Opegrapha sp., Pertusaria copiosa, Porina
heterospora, Rimelia reticulata, Usnea subscabrosa.
Thallus corticolous, crustose, immersed, brown, esorediate; lirellae black,
superficial, raised, short fusiform and becoming distinctly stellate; exciple black,
KOH-; ascospores colorless, 8-per ascus, 6-celled, fusiform, (26)-29-30 x 8-8.5|im.
