Referred to map "Figure 1: Location map of two sites of archaeological black earth (ABD) investigated at Cachoeira-Porteira, Lower Amazon region" provided by "The ceramic artifacts in archaeological black earth (terra preta) from Lower Amazon region, Brazil: chemistry and geochemical evolution" article for location information for Cachoeira Porteira (Lima da Costa, Marcondes, et al. The reference map shows that the approximate location of the waterfall is at the junction of Rio Trombetas and Rio Mapuera and very nearby BR-163. Using the reference map and Google Maps - Satellite View, located Cachoeira Porteira. Located the beginning of road BR-163 very nearby the site of the waterfall. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure 9 km. (9.0002 km.) along BR-163, starting at the beginning of this road at the site of the waterfall towards junction with road BR-210. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates at this location. Used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) again to find linear extent by measuring from the starting location, beginning of road BR-163, to the farthest extent of the area of the waterfall (confluence of Rio Trombetas and Rio Mapuera). Input coordinates, linear extent (2025.56 m.), measurement error (.01 m.), and distance precision (100 m.) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius.
