  Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. The hydroelectric dam at this location, Barragem da Lagoa de Juturniba, was constructed after this collection was made (dam constructed in 1980). It appears that the reservoir of the dam covers up a large portion of the city of Poço d'Anta and additionally distorts the route of Rio São João. Georeferenced (to the best ability) the approximate geographic center of Poço d'Anta in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Used Google Maps - Earth and Map Views to locate Poço d'Anta. Used the Google Maps - What's Here Tool to find the coordinates of the approximate geographic center of Poço d'Anta. Because of the difficulty in determining the spatial boundaries of this city, used the Google Maps - Measure Distance Tool to approximate the linear extent by measuring from the selected coordinates to the approximate geographic center of the nearest named place, the city of Juturnaiba, then halving this distance (3.14 km). Input coordinate source (locality description), coordinates, datum (WGS84), coordinate precision (0.00001 degrees), extent of named place (3140 m), and measurement error (10 m) into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to the Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Undefined Area).
