Locally common, young, plants to 1 rn along roadb^nk and in cornfield;
stems cylindrical, sliftfj^y lustrous medium green with white striations
and dark brown lenticels; sheath ana petiole glaucous whitish—green,
olade thick-membranaceous, above matte to suolustrous dark green with
ridged veins, beneath sublustrous light green with prominet veins; spikes
near—white to light greyish—green»
Bosque pluvial moôtano-bajo, on steep hillsides of soft red siltstone
and more or less adobe soil; Just N of Qda. Colorada, ca. 2 km S of
Río La Uracá, and ca. 5 km N of San Felix; Distrito,Ayacucho, Estado
Tacnira; Venezuela, ca. 500 m. elv.
