¿1 PLANTS OF VENEZUELA STATE OF ARAGUA, "HENRI PITTIER" NATIONAL PARK piperaceae/ fi p ex HERa M Y j Pico Guacamaya, trail from El Refugio to peak. N10° 22’; W 67 40’. Above cloud forest. Not dense, canopy open, low, 6-12 m. Few low herbs, Neurolepis pittieri dominating, mosses & epiphytes abundant. Soil poorly developed with thin peaty humic layer above. 1700 m alt. Bush 1.5 m tall with prominent nodes out of which emerge 1 leaf and 1 fruit. Fruit green, 3-3.5 x 0.5 cm, cylindrical with ovules arranged around axile placenta. Ovules with black seeds. K.S.
