Recently burned over area of rugged lava" flow (ca.
2000 years old or less) with stunted, open stand of
Pinus pseudostrobus, Lyonia squamosa, Clethra mexicana.
The surrounding areas on developed soils have BOSQUE
CADUCIFOLIO.
Forming mass on small tree, over logs and boulders,
viny. Leaves and spikes yellow-green; stems light
red; spikes erect.
