Dense, semi-evergreen coastal forest on
white sand, with numerous small trees and a
low, dense canopy.	Alt. c. 15 m I
A small, herb growing in shallow leaf liter
and white sand, in shaded area. Root
tuberous at the base, then with a subterranean
stem covered in soft, ginger-brown prickles
and rooting from the stem also; sap white.
Leaves thick and leathery, dark green with
undulating margins. Inflorescence with 2
flower heads, the bracts lime green to
yellowish or pinkish, with bright lime green,
glistening glands within; anthers bright
yellow.
