Mimika Regency, PT-Freeport Indonesia Concession Area:
Rimba Irian Golf Course, on outskirts of Kuala Kencana.
Undisturbed lowland tropical rain forest within and surrounding the
course with mixed species composition.
Altitude: 0010m.
Climbing base of a 8m tall small tree. Roots starting at c.20cm
above ground level, and 4 dense "heads" formed at 30,40, and
50cm. Fronds leathery, but snap easily if bent at c. 100o, dark
green and glossy adaxially, grey-olive green and matt abaxially,
midrib very prominent on both surfaces. Great consistency in
number of fronds per "head": 42-46 on those collected, and on 8
adjacent examples not collected. HERB, SPIRIT, DNA.
