Description
Pileus 3.5-5.5 cm broad, convex, dry, with broad, felty, areolate scales, black with white between. Flesh white, changing to reddish orange when exposed, 15 mm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes depressed around stipe, 1 cm deep, white changing to reddish orange when exposed; pores concolorous, staining likewise, eventually black, up to 1 mm broad. Stipe 4-8 cm long, 1 cm broad, dry, white above, black below, with floccose gray veil remnants above and black remnants below; interior white changing to reddish orange when exposed. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
