Description
Pileus 5 cm broad, convex, dry, with fine erect pyramidal scales on disc, flattened into repent squamules toward margin, with sterile margin. Flesh 1.5 cm thick, white, changing to reddish orange then black, with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, 14 mm deep, white to very pale gray, staining reddish orange then black, with pores concolorous and staining likewise, 1 mm broad. Stipe 9 x 1.1 cm, equal, dry, curved, areolate reticulate above, striate ridged below, pale gray to dark gray,with pale gray floccose veil remains above, staining reddish orange then black, with interior solid, staining as in pileus flesh. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
