Georeferencing Method
Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Version 2012. Georeferenced to the midpoint between the approximate geographic centers of the neighbor-hood of "Pontal" (found within the broader political borders of the city of Ilhéus in Google Maps) and the central portion of the city Ilhéus found across the river from "Pontal". Using Google Maps - Satellite View, located the two named localities. Beginning at the approximate geographic center of the neighbor-hood of "Pontal" (-14.8124542 -39.0351722), used Distance Measurement Tool (Google Maps) to measure a straight line to the approximate geographic center of the central portion of the city Ilhéus (-14.7890738 -39.0466091), then halved this distance to approximate the location of the midpoint of these two localities. Used Canadensys Lat/Long Crosshairs to find the coordinates of the midpoint (along with the coordinates of the approximated geographic centers given above). Input coordinates, linear extent (half the distance between the approximated geographic centers of the neighbor-hood of "Pontal" and the central portion of the city Ilhéus, 1439.59 m), into the MaNIS Georeferencing Calculator to find the uncertainty radius (according to Georeferencing Quick Reference Guide, Named Place: Between two Places).
