Beside path next to road. Dense cloud forest surrounding, canopy quite closed. Few
low herbs. Heliconiaceae, Marantaceae, Musaceae and Rubiaceae shrubs dominating
the understorey with palms (Geonoma, Bactris) quite frequent, tree ferns occasional,
mosses & epiphytes abundant. 1100 m alt.
Tree 3 m tall, 4 cm D.B.H. No latex. Long green spike-like inflorescences. Flowers
white, very small.
