Rutaceae Zanthoxyhm americanum Mill, det. M. Nee, 2014 WISCONSIN, Richland Co., 3 miles SE of center of Richland Center. 43°18’41”N, 90°19’47”W. alt. 260 m. T 10 N; R 1 E; NWKSWft sect. 25. Colony on SE-facing slope, at edge of cultivated field (below) and young woods (above) of Ulmus americana, Populus tremuloides, Juglans nigra, Tilia americana, Carya ovata, with Rubus occidentalis. The maximum size for the species here, 5 m. tall, 7.5 cm in diameter, 15 years old; voucher for wood specimen, MADw. The ones in the understory of adjacent woods are more or less thriving but do not form dense patches, are less densely branched, and not over 2 m. tall or 2 cm. in diameter. Staminate; the flowers not conspicuous, and easily falling after anthesis, thus the herbarium specimens look nearly sterile. Coll.; M. Nee 61081 22 May 2014 Missouri Botanical Garden (MO) 03788110
