RUTACEAE Zanthoxylum americanum Mill. Female.
Shrub 2.5 m. tall, 4 cm. in diameter, in shaded fence-
row between cultivated fields, a couple of other indi-
viduals here, probably a clone but not forming dense
clonal thickets as they do in nearby unshaded pasture
slopes. With Carya ovata, Prunus serotina, Ulmus
americana (recently dead from Dutch Elm Disease).
Flowers yellow-green.
WISCONSIN: Richland Co., 3 miles SE of Richland Center.
