Description
Pileus 3.5-5 cm broad, convex to plano-convex, dry, with black areolate squamules on a pale gray ground, with dark gray to black appendiculate veil remnants at margin. Flesh white, changing to reddish orange, with mild odor and taste, up to 1 cm thick. Tubes white to pale gray, up to 1 cm long, changing to reddish orange when cut, with concolorous pores, up to 1 mm broad, changing to reddish orange then black when bruised. Stipe 6-10 cm long, 10-12 mm broad, ±equal with an expanded base, dry, white to pale gray above, with scattered, floccose, black veil remnants, with interior white to black staining as in pileus. Phenology of specimen: Basidiomata.
