Woody shrub to three metres_, becoming
larger to more than five metres. Young
stems, young leaves and young inflorescences
covered with a light brown indumentum.
Leaves opposite and decussate, comparatively
large. Inflorescences terminal or axillary,
Young inflorescences with small bracteoles
and inflorescence bracts, which are not
persisting. Peduncle and pedicel becoming
reddish. Calyx a five-lobed tube, green
becoming red. Corolla soon falling, of
small white petals. Fruit red-green, and
becoming red and perhaps darkening.
In secondary regrowth area on old plantation|
at the side of the river.
