  • Description

    Pileus 2-6 cm broad, convex to plano convex, dry to moist, even to slightly rugulose, entire but soon areolate, Vandyke brown (6F6-5) at first, soon cocoa brown (6E6) or remaing Vandyke brown with age. Flesh white, slowly staining pink in the pileus, changing to blue in the stipe, <8 mm thick. Tubes depressed around the stipe, <1 mm long, brownish orange (5C4-3), changing to avellaneous when exposed; pores concolorous, up to 1 mm broad, staining as the tubes. Stipe 4-7 cm long, 5-8 mm broad, subclavate, dry, white with fine gray scabers at first, soon with black scabers coalescing into a reticulum toward the base.
