The New York Botanical Garden Plants of U.S.A. Rosaceae Rosa multiflora Thunb, Wisconsin, Richland Co., along Pine River, 1.4 km. SW of “center” of Gotham, 0.3 km (by air) NE of junction with Wisconsin River. 43°12’42”N, 90°18’10”W. alt. 181 m. Thin, irregular stand of Gleditsia triacanthos, Quercus bicolor, Fraxinus pensylvanica, Betula nigra, Acer saccharinum. Shrub with many arching branches to 3 m. long, from the bank and leaning out over river, spontaneous but rare in this habitat, only a few others seen. Fruit bright red-orange.
