  • Description

    Pileus 2-6.5 cm broad, convex and broadly subumbonate to plano-convex with a low umbo to acutely conic-umbonate, dry, velutinous to matted velutinous at first, becoming finely granulose-areolate with areoles finely tufted-subvelutinous, dark brown to cinnamon brown (8F8,7; 7E8 to 6E8), unchanging, with sterile appendiculate margin. Flesh white, unchanging with mild odor and taste. Tubes adnexed, white at first becoming vinaceous pink, staining light brown. Stipe 6.5-13 cm long, 8-15 mm broad, equal to slightly broader below, dry, coarsely reticulate to alveolate-reticulate, with reticulum brown (as in pileus), over a whitish to pale buff ground color, with interior white, unchanging, sometimes becoming hollow, with copious white rhizoids at base, white at base.
