Young tree, to 6.10 m tall. Buds and newly emerged leaves sticky to the touch. Lenticels large and long. Bark golden-coppery tan in color. Flowers white. Growing in an Oak-Hickory Mesic Woodland with Erythronium americanum, Lindera benzoin, Rosa multiflora, Aralia elata, and Viola seroria. Matthew C.
