sect. 25.
Patch of woods which grew up in fencerow and abandoned
comer of field, on gentle SE-facing slope of small valley,
without stream, surrounded by cultivated fields. With Carya
ovata, Juglans nigra, Celtis occidentalis, Ulmus americana,
one U pumila.
Tree 17 m. tall, 40 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood
specimen, MADw. The herbarium specimens from the
upper canopy; fruit abundant, immature, green with wine-
red on insolated side.
