Description
Pileus 6-10 cm broad, convex to plano convex, moist to tacky and shiny, subtomentose (lens), dark brown. Context light yellow, quickly cyanescent causing flesh to appear white, then fading, with mild odor and slightly unpleasant but not idiosyncratic taste. Tubes adnexed, with yellow tubes deep red pores with both cyanescent. Stipe 13 cm long x 2 cm broad, clavate with slightly deformed base, orange yellow at apex, red to deep red toward base, white at base, with surface heavily subpruinose, with faint slight ridges toward base, bluing when bruised, with interior deep yellow, quickly cyanescent, with bluing becoming dark glaucous with time, apparently white at base.
