Along bike trail, formerly a railroad line, through floodplain
of Pine River, Acer saccharinum, Quercus macrocarpa, Q.
ellipsbidalis, Ulmus americana, Corylus americana.
Several shrubs in fencerow between cultivated field and old
railroad, 4 m. tall, 8 cm. in diameter. Voucher for wood
specimen, MADw. In full bloom; flowers musty-fragrant (5:30
P.M., sunhy); petals white, some with red marks. Same species
as no. 6/523 collected sterile, with mature leaves, on 31 Aug
2104, 500 m. to the SE in slightly wetter habitat.
