Fragaria virginiana Duchesne

The former Julian A. Steyermark property on
hilly Valparaiso moraine, the original
forest of Quercus alba, Q. rubra, Q. macrocarpa,
Q. ellipsoidalis, Tilia americana, Acer saccharum,
Prunus serótina, Ulmus rubra, Carya ovata. From
1941-1958 a large nümber of herbs, shrubs and
trees, many from Missouri, were introduced by
J.A. Steyermark; essentially untended but
many still persisting (Neviusia alabamensis,
Cornus florida, Asimina triloba, etc.)
