Petals 7—8 mm. long*
Infrequent in white spruce forest, with some balsam
poplar. In densest shade of spruces, only feather
mosses are present on forest floor. Five-inch moss mat
in placesj otherwise 5-inch layer of litter and humus,
them clay. Shrubs: Shepherdia, Viburnum, Rosa, Linnaea.
