Psammisia J Ericaceae \ Province: Zamora-Chinchipe Road Loja -Zamora, km 13. 2750 m c.79° 07' W; 3° 58' S 30 September 1997 Vegetation: bosque humedo, ericaceous scrub and secondary vegetation on steep wet mossy embankment. ± scandent shrub to 1.5 m; leaves coriaceous, discolorous, dark bluish green dull above, yellowish green dull below; bracts pale green, pedicels red, calyces rose-pink with white lobes, fleshy corollas rose-pink with exposed white constricted apex; fleshy berries globose-turbinate, red becoming olive-green, seeds orange-brown.
