Vegetation: bosque humedo, ericaceous scrub and secondary vegetation
on steep wet mossy embankment.
± scandent shrub to 1.5 m; leaves coriaceous, discolorous, dark bluish
green dull above, yellowish green dull below; bracts pale green, pedicels
red, calyces rose-pink with white lobes, fleshy corollas rose-pink with
exposed white constricted apex; fleshy berries globose-turbinate, red
becoming olive-green, seeds orange-brown. Local in secondary scrub on
roadside embankment.
