Province ESMERALDAS Zapallo Grande, a mixed A£ro-latin and Cayapa Amerindian community along Rio Cayapa. Secondary vegetation and disturbed rain forests close to village. (78° 54'W 00° 48N) Alt 200 m. 19-25 Oct 1983 Climber with hanging scandent shoots, pedicel purplish- red, calyx purple-brown, corolla red on the outside, white on inside and pilose, epigynous. Nom. vem.: femu-piu-tap6. Use: for bites of the snake Equis. Preparation: the leaves are boiled and the decoction is used to bath the swelled tissue.
