Vegetation: bosque nublado transition with elfin ericaceous scrub.
Shrub to 2.5 m with ± scandent branchlets; young foliage pinkish cream,
mature leaves coriaceous, mid- to dark green glossy above, pale and dull
below; some inflorescences ramiflorous, calyces apple-green, corollas
fleshy, pink, style carmine-red. Locally common.
