Vegetation: grass paramo with pockets of shrubs.
Shrub to 2 m; leaves coriaceous, mid-yellowish green, slightly glossy
above, paler and dull below, calyces green with a purplish tinge,
corollas waxy-fleshy, pinkish red with pale pink lobes. Common in open
sites of paramo amongst rocks, tussock grass and Iridaceae.
