Island, Bahamas Willard Sherman Turrell Herbarium (MU) Species Calophyllum brasiliensè Au: Camb. Family Clusiaceae / Guttiferae Common Name None known for island. Description Tree with opposite leaves. Plant exudes white sap when cut. Flowers are male and were already dried up when specimen was collected. Location/Habitat Midway between Old Bight and Greenwood, along a trail that runs east of the Old Farm Rd. Trail runs to the Atlantic coast. Found in back in a tall dry evergreen forest area that has big banana holes and cultivated bananas and papayas (pawpaws). Latitude 24°13 58 N Longitude 75°20 49 W Uses/Comments This was the only place I saw this plant on the island. Not previously listed as occurring on Cat Island (Correll & Correll, 1982).
