  • Description

    Pileus up to cm broad, convex to plane, purplish lilac, soon fading to a nice flesh brown, matted subtomentose. Flesh white, unchanging, up to 2 cm thick, with mild odor and taste. Tubes off white when young, soon pinkish brown, staining avellaneous (oh, ho--hum, same old tylop routine); pores likewise, 1-2/mm. Stipe equal to subclavate, dry, streaked purplish lilac young, these colors soon disappearing and becoming pinkish brown OR remaining at apex OR base; white at very base.
