ERICACEAE
Sprawling, thicket-forming shrubs to 3ft tall,
usually less, locally abundant (nearly forming
a monoculture), flowers white to salmon pink.
Growing in an open, seasonally flooded
interdune swale in moist sand (Netarts fine
sand, 3-12% slopes; sandy, isotic, isomesic
Entic Haplorthods). With Carex obnupta,
Deschampsia cespitosa, Pinus contorta &
Spiraea douglasii. To the W. side of the road
to the Sutton Campground & around 200ft NE
of the intersection with the road to Sutton
Beach. Sutton Recreation Area, Siuslaw
National Forest, Lane Co. Elev. about 65ft.
