PLANTS OF KENTUCKY Vaccinium staminium L.? [Or one of the subgen. Polyc odium related to V. stamineum?] D. Gibson April 28, i960 J. Watson Shrub about 3 ft. tall. Corolla greenish white and so deeply cleft each "petal” tends to come apart separately. No fragrance, whereas typical V. stamineum is very fragrant. White glaucescence under side of leaves and on calyx. Sepals edged with very long, non-glandular hairs. Stamens only slightly exserted, not nearly as much as the usual V. staminium or its variety neglectum. Awns of stamens are greatly reduced, not nearly as long as the typical V. stamineum. Frequent on upper slopes and ridge of shaly hill behind old Ferguson House, under cedars. Approx. 13 miles north of Columbia, Adair County. 02548892
