Coast Range Ecoregion. S of OR Rt. 18 and Salmon River, forest road towards "Lost Prairie" Clay loam, dry exposed roadbank, on basaltic bedrock. Probably some weathered volcanic ash. Montane conifer forest, Pseudotsuga, Tsuga, Abies, Alnus. Dry, partly shaded roadside bank. Fruits bright red, fleshy, showy, edible (slightly tart but good); local shrub 2 m tall, leaves somewhat bluish-green, stems green, ridged. Steven R. Hill 32770 Bryan E. Dutton 3 August 2000 02548277
