Bear Mr• Ferguson :
Tour letter of November 2 arrived after I had written ac-
knowledging the receipt of the specimens.
It is hard to make a definite decision with regard to
Taccinium casarionss. I am inclined to believe that it is a
good speeies, distinguished from 7. corvmbosum by the constantly
smaller flowers. There are no ether differences, apparently,
but the site of the corolla seems to be a fairly good character
for the limitation of other species of the genus, particularly
some of the southern ones* Here, about the District of Columbia,
the two species seem to be very well markedy but then, Of course,
we have here very few blueberries, that is as to number of in-
dividuals *
Very truly yours,
