ERICACEAE
Shrubs to 3ft tall, occasional, flowers narrow, white to
pale pink. In a shrubby, degraded boggy area in peaty
sand (Leon fine sand; sandy, siliceous, thermic Aerie
Alaquods). Growing with Gaylussacia sp., Hypericum
tetrapetalum, Ilex glabra, Liquidambar styraciflua,
Lyonia fruticosa, Pinus taeda, Pteridium aquilinum,
Quercus hemisphaerica, Sassafras albidum (rare),
Serenoa repens, Smilax lajurifolia, & Sphagnum spp.
Along the N. side of Rt. 99 (Ridge Rd.), about 0.15mi
E. of the intersection with Rts. 17 & 25 (North Way),
Eulonia, McIntosh Co. Elev. about 12ft. 31° 31'
