disturbed premontane forest.
Terrestrial shrub to 3 m tall. Floral bracts pale
greenish—red. Corolla deep orange, with paler
orange to white tips. Abundant. Visited by hum-
mingbirds and usually infested by social spider
nests. Common at higher elevation.
